Recently, my boyfriend got the xbox one, with a remastered version of Halo Combat Envolved, a game I love to play back in the days. While playing and killing monsters I thought … what if this game had a scent? And how would it smell? That gave me the idea to make a blogpost with games and their perfect scent. I will be talking about games I personally have played and I will show you what kind of fragrance I would give them. And why!
This is just my personal interpretation … but I’m really curious if you connect a scent tot a game. Email me your story to email@example.com (I’m planning about posting something about games in the future and I want your story to be in it!)
Halo Combat Envolved
Machine and plasma guns, the Master Chief has a tough job. Killing monsters in this intergalactic world. I love Halo. CE was the first one of the series Iv’e played and currently it’s out on the Xbox one. The whole setting of the game reminds me of Lancome’s Hypnose. This really intriguing fragrance that paralyzes the enemy. Strong and potent, purple like poison. A fragrance that feels you empowered and mysterious.
With the awesome notes of Passion flower, Jasmin and Vanilla. It’s ready to make you go crazy and get under your skin. *There is also a dupe of this one, by Benneton called Rosso!
True life in a game. Or isn’t it that true … when I think about The Sims, I think about plasma tv’s, cheat codes, fancy clothes and lot’s of friends and parties. I used to give my Sim the live of a rockstar. But, as we all know … your Sim can get angry to … not being able to pee, not being able to sleep … and don’t forget, dirty plates on the table!
That’s why I would give this game the fragrance Loverdose by Diesel. A scent that reminds you of the good and bad things in life. With a very Sim-ish bottle … a heart shaped one.
Zelda The Windwaker
When my sister had a Gamecube, I sometimes got the chance to play this awesome game. It’s by far one of my favorites from the past. The music, the graphics and of course the story are amazing.
Link is on his way to an island to escape with princess Zelda. But during that trip, he visits Islands, met crazy people, sailed, and walked into caves and lava.
This game deserves an earthy fragrance. That’s why I chose Histories des Parfum noir Patchouli. Earthy and green. Fresh and subtile, full of energy and ready to face a long day.
Rooftops, wind and a girl with a very good condition. This game deserves a fresh smell, nothing to sweet or fancy. Like the wind, it’s there but you can’t see it.
That’s why I chose Molecule 01. The fragrance you can’t smell by yourself, but others can. It’s about leaving an impression and not being to selfconsious.
Loud music, bright colors, every level another theme. Happy faces and weird worlds. Mario Kart is a true circus. Everything looks better and happier in the world of Nintentdo’s finest. This game deserves a sweet and happy fragrance. Something that brings hope and makes you not think about the future.
Sun by Jil Sander is the perfect scent. The sun shines, everything is happy and sweet. Life is good.
The legend of Zelda, Orcina of time
Another Zelda game, this time an older version. Orcina of time takes you deep into the forest. Lot’s of bugs and swamps. Mossy foundations and foggy weather. Link still looks fresh.
This game needs an intense but earthy scent. That’s why I imagined Givenchy’s ange ou demon. With the notes of mossy and green leaves, coriander and saffron this fragrance fits perfectly into the scene of orcina of time.
By the way … the bottle looks kind of like a firestone.
Oriental ground, guns and fire. Humid weather and a hot guy sweating behind a brick wall. Uncharted 2 is full of adventure and being able to dare. You can already feel this coming but Guerlains Shalimar is the perfect one.
It takes you on a trip to something far away. It blends perfectly with sweat and heat. This fragrance makes you feel good even when the weather is to hot. I can even imagine guys wearing this … wouldn’t we love that …. right?
Egypt III the fate of ramses
Allright, this one is really really old. Back in the days when internet wasn’t even available my father got this game Egypt. I was always very interested in it and I never had the chance to finish the game because our hard disk was broken and the game couldn’t start anymore.
I still remember how the game felt and how mysterious it was. Empty houses and gardens, very hot burning sunshine … I loved playing this.
The fragrance I chose for this game is Chopard Cashmere: Beautiful vanilla and caramel, you can feel the burn of the sun when you wear this. It leaves a ver subtile musky dry down that reminds me of tombes and the dark mysterious rooms in the game. Really if you can get your hands on this one , play it.
The most addicting game ever. I could have spend all my life behind my PC but eventually Iv’e grown up and technology got further. This is the most addictive game Iv’e ever played in my life and can already feel the need to play this again when I’m typing this.
Rollercoaster tycoon, giving me the power in my own hands, being able to change landscapes, control people and build theme based parks. I loved it!
That’s why I chose the fragrance: Alien by Thierry Mugler
Full on sharp Jasmine, addictive, robot like packaging sweet and you will never forget it since the first sniff!
Well my lovely readers, that was my post about games and fragrances. I’m just really curious if you connect a scent to a game. Like I said, e-mail me!
I’m also thinking about writing a post with movies and books connected to scents. If you have ideas, Tweet : @fragrancyblog
