A while ago I saw someone on Instagram posting a picture of the fragrances by the brand Alkemia and I immediately visited their webshop on Etsy. The brand really got my attention and I decided to order a couple of samples.

After ordering, the people from Alkemia responded to me with the question what type of notes I like so they could pick out some scents for me. 2 weeks later my envelope arrived (They are located in the USA) and I am ready to test right now. But first …. *let me take a selfie* just kidding, a little about Alkemia below.

The fragrances

Alkemia has a large variety of scents but the ones I am gonna talk about are:

Fume Oud a la Vanille – Ghost Fire – Antares – Summer Dandelion – Amour Conjure – Ofrenda

Fume Oud a la Vanille

Crushed tonka beans, woodsmoked amber, and bourbon vanilla aged with oud wood. “Thinking gives off smoke to prove the existence of fire. A mystic sits inside the burning. There are wonderful shapes in rising smoke that imagination loves to watch. But it’s a mistake to leave the fire for that filmy sight. Stay here at the flame’s core….

What do I smell?

A leathery sticky Oud with a drop of vanilla. Also a little sweaty and would be perfect for warmer types of weather. This also reminds me of my trip to Istanbul 2 years ago visiting markets and restaurants.

Ghost Fire

A hauntingly beautiful blend of white ambers flickers like ethereal fire. The exquisitely unworldly ones draw close to revel in its strange and luminous sweetness.

What do I smell?

Amber and coconut, that’s what I get from this. It smells very tropical but not on the fruity side. It is very warm and relaxing + has a sweeter side, this is a scent that could make me feel sick if I would wear it to much. Smells also a bit like Yves Rochers Coconut perfume.

Antares

A perfumed ode to the night sky of the Sonoran Desert and Antares, a mesmerizingly beautiful orange star also known as the ‘Eye of the Scorpion’… Queen of the Night, Dried Wild Roses, Mandarin, Nicotania, Oakmosses, Cactus, Juniper, Acacia buds, Fir Resin, Clary Sage, Cedar Needles, Labdanum, Guaiac Wood, Germander, and White Patchouli lightly bathed in dewy Water Musk.

What do I smell?

This is a fresh one with pine needles peppermint and maybe some lavender. I think I smell some violet to. This is the perfect spa scent or something for a pamper / relaxation night. I really love this, what is happening to me with the fresh scent at the moment? I am surprised I start to like them more and more. I would also wear this on my holiday when I go camping.

Summer Dandelion

(No background info available)

What do I smell?

Wow, this really takes me back to when I was a little kid and played at my grandmas house with my mum her old dolls. I never thought a Dandelion would smell like that memory. This scent smells like a day in a park, it is very very uplifting. This is a happy scent and would also be great for kids!

Amour Conjure

Based on an old hoodoo formula for Come to Me oil used to call and compel love and sexual attraction. An erotic, exotic blend of amber aged with Bourbon vanilla pods, Ceylon cinnamon infused flirtatious aldehydes, Bulgarian roses, rose geranium and vetivert roots, copper distilled patchouli, and a scattering of incense resins.

What do I smell?

No. I really dislike this. It smells rusty and metallic to me.  Also there is to much of rose in this scent , this gives me the idea of how a coffin would smell. Or an old abandoned Chapel on a hill. This perfume is a creepy one. Am I the only one that has this category? Let me know if you also know some creepy perfumes.

Ofrenda

A collection of Mayan offerings – calendula and lemon blossoms, nutmeg, copal incense, star jasmine, smokey amber, vanilla orchid, aquamiel de agave, a salt rimmed shot of mezcal, stonecrushed raw cacao, and cardamon infused musk.

What do I smell?

A lot of citrus, amber and smoke. Also some vanilla … not my cup of tea. But this is a nice perfume. To bad it smells sour on my skin. I like the ingredients but to me it is to much of everything.

MY FAVORITES: Antares & Fume Oud a la Vanille
